The most common cause of lung cancer in both smokers and nonsmokers is tobacco-related air pollution. . There are around 600 different ingredients in tobacco. When smoked, they produce more than 7,500 different compounds that are suspected of being carcinogenic. More importantly, many of these compounds are toxic, so it’s not surprising that those who smoke regularly also have an increased risk of lung cancer.
